Project Overview

An intermodal rail terminal is being developed as a concession for Tambo Springs Logistics Gateway. The development is located on the southern border of Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni and between Durban in KZN and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The project consists of rail infrastructure, industrial developments, logistics areas and many transport corridors. The project was awarded by freight rail operator, Transnet.

The projects boasts becoming the largest development of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa with the intention of doubling the current freight logistics capacity in and out of Gauteng. It offers customs clearance as a direct benefit of the economic zone. The project services future and current container-volume traffics using rail. Finally, this project forms part of the Gauteng Integrated Transport Master Plan and aims to velour growth supporting infrastructure along the Durban – Free State – Gauteng corridor.
